Money Workshop ActivityIn the Money Workshop activity, kids can develop basic money skills using virtual coins and bills. The money manipulatives are the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, one dollar bill, five dollar bill, ten dollar bill, and twenty dollar bill. In the Naming and Counting environment, kids model amounts of money using virtual coins and bills. As kids form amounts of money, they are displayed in decimal form, in cent form, and in written form. Kids can also change coins and bills into smaller, equivalent denominations. There's also a practice environment for addition and subtraction with money. In each environment kids can set up problems to solve. The money values in the problem are represented by combinations of coins and bills. Money topics covered in this activity are aligned to several mathematics standards and benchmarks for kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade and include naming and counting money; addition with money; and subtraction with money. |
