Geometry Workshop Activity

The Geometry Workshop is an open-ended activity in which children can explore 2D geometry.  The workshop has tools for drawing, resizing and coloring shapes.  There is also a set of "shape stamps" for younger children.  Other tools perform transformations, such as flipping and turning.  A ruler, protractor, and area tool are available for measuring figures.

The workshop has features for making and saving multi-page workbooks.  Children can draw and manipulate geometric figures on blank pages or on dot grids like geoboards.  These are especially helpful when studying the perimeters and areas of figures.

Another feature of the Geometry Workshop is "Give Me A Challenge".  With this feature, children can access pre-designed challenge problems.  Hundreds of geometry problems are already available. The topics include shape recognition, features of polygons, transformations, angles and triangles, as well as perimeters and areas.  And, with the Challenge Editor, you can make your own problem sets, save them and share them with others!

The Geometry Workshop is designed to give preschoolers through upper elementary aged children a versatile and stimulating context for developing skills in geometry.
