Bucky's Blueprints Perimeters and Areas GameIn this activity, Bucky's Blueprints,
children calculate areas and perimeters of different geometric figures
such as squares, triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, and other
straight-sided shapes. Two of the word problem sets include
calculating the perimeter and area of circles. The figures are based on parts of structures such as a house, barn,
gazebo, jungle gym, and even a go-cart.
Labeled illustrations go along with each word problem so children have
clear visual references to help them construct and carry out the proper
calculation. As they move through a word problem set,
children can "build" their own structures by choosing colors
and textures for different parts. When
a word problem set is finished, a personalized certificate is displayed that
includes the structure. |
